ACE (Architects & Consulting Engineers) was founded in 1983. Previously, the owner had been partner/ director in UNICONSULT MIDDLE EAST (UME), a consulting firm which was founded in 1969 and was dissolved some time after 1983. In those 14 year, UME was involved in a large number of projects mainly in Syria and also in other Arab countries. The main reason for dissolving UME was a policy of the Syrian Government which was adopted in the early eighties and lasted till 1987. At that time the government established its own engineering consultancy firms and decided to commission said firms with almost all government and public sector design and supervision works. Private sector work was also scarce at the time.

For the first few years after the ACE was established work was rather slow. ACE managed, however, to maintain a core of UME's most proficient personnel and retain contact with other equally qualified professionals. Subsequently, when work started to take off again in 1986-1987, ACE was in a convenient position to become active once more.

ACE's main office is situated in a pleasant area in the city of Damascus, with a working space of 350 m2. Full computer aided design and drafting are adopted. The number of permanent core personnel is about 25, and the maximum which were employed in early 1992 was about 80 when the firm was at the crest of its activity related to its latest large design project (AMRIT TOURISTIC COMPLEX). At that time ACE had to rent temporarily additional office space near its main office to accommodate the staff needed.

From 1983 up to date ACE is considered as a consultancy office that provides a full architectural and engineering services for all kind of projects; Residential, industrial, touristic, sports facilities, medical properties, shopping facilities, educational, entertainments, governmental building, embassies, offices, oil & gas establishement …etc. ACE main aim is to achieve sustainable projects that respect the environment, reduce the lifecycle cost and add to the beauty of the built environment.

ACE Architects and Consulting Engineers, has been a pioneering force in the planning design and implementation of development projects in Syria. ACE provides comprehensive consultancy services. Our capabilities span all service areas needed to take a project from conception to operation. Our multi-disciplinary services span across several areas of activity from structures and infrastructure to the natural environment and telecommunications. ACE uses in its designs national and international standards such as; Syrian building code, Fidic, UBC, IPC, IBC, NFPA, BS, ASHARE….etc
